UK-based emission reduction specialist Eminox has become the first company approved by the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) with its SCRT technology.
This means Eminox SCRT can be used as part of applications for the £30 million Clean Bus Technology Fund, recently launched for local authorities.
The CVRAS certifies manufacturers and retrofit emissions reduction technology that meet Euro VI real world emissions levels. This clean vehicle retrofit accreditation scheme, run by the Energy Savings Trust, is designed to support action to reduce air pollution, by ensuring that only effective and proven retrofit technologies can be used.
London is set to introduce the UK’s first Ultra-Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) and it may be introduced 17 months early, in April 2019. Some 28 local authorities across England are tasked with producing plans to tackle air pollution and in Scotland four Low Emissions Zones (LEZ) are to be introduced, the first in 2018.
The clean vehicle retrofit accreditation scheme provides a national certification to prove that retrofitted vehicles will meet the requirements of all these zones.
