Eminox today announces some good news for operators in the wake of confirmation by Ken Livingston of the introduction of the London Low Emission Zone.
Now that there is a clear need to take action, Eminox is keen to address the misconception that new vehicles are the only option for those not currently meeting the LEZ standards.
The company has a range of cost-effective retrofit solutions which can give compliance not only for phase one, from February 2008, but for the more stringent phase two requirements in 2012. Furthermore, Eminox systems are RPC certified, giving not only LEZ compliance, but also a 50% reduction on VED for the majority of vehicles.
To provide retrofit solutions for the wide range of vehicles affected, Eminox has added to its established CRT® range with FBC and FBC Active, fuel borne catalyst systems. All of these full filtration technologies virtually eliminate particulate matter including ultrafine particles (below one micron) which are considered the most damaging to health.
In a recent telemarketing survey, Eminox discovered that 62% of operators have yet to plan for LEZ compliance.
“With daily charges of £100 to £200 for non-compliant vehicles, compliance is not optional,” says Mike Galey, Director of Marketing at Eminox. “However, operators do have the option to choose an efficient, cost-effective retrofit solution which delivers the highest standards of emission control and makes the best business sense. Eminox has already been contacted by many affected operators, advising more than 100 people at the CV show alone.”
In readiness for the expected demand for retrofit solutions, Eminox is developing a range of ‘core option’ products which can easily be adapted for a large variety of vehicles.
Each Eminox retrofit system for the LEZ has an electronic service indicator device, giving advance warning when a filter needs cleaning. The company’s service offering provides a simple cost effective filter exchange scheme to make filter cleaning easy and minimise vehicle downtime.
Eminox is the market leader for retrofit exhaust emissions technology in Europe with almost 50,000 systems supplied to date, including 8,000 buses fitted in London and 3,000 in Paris.
