Eminox, designer and manufacturer of exhaust after-treatment, will showcase its Active Regeneration Trap (ART) technology at IAA, 2010.
Eminox’s ART technology is being developed to offer a particulate matter reduction solution for low-temperature applications. The full-flow burner technology can be integrated with other technologies as part of the specialist OEM solutions offer from Eminox. A complete system which uses a robust silicon carbide filter, housed in a compact modular stainless steel unit, is also being developed for the retrofit market.
Standard DPF (diesel particulate filter) technologies cannot regenerate at low temperatures. However, with ART technology, effective filter regeneration can be achieved from 150 degrees, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
Eminox has been supplying after-treatment systems since 1997, most recently supplying Euro V line fit solutions to OEMs including Iveco and Volvo. Eminox works closely with OEMs providing a complete solution from concept design, modeling and development through to prototyping, validation and manufacture.
The ART technology has fully automated regeneration via a dynamic Electronic Control Unit which helps to maintain low back pressure. ART does not require user intervention, has minimal impact on normal vehicle operations, and low impact on fuel consumption. The burner hardware has been developed by Eminox using techniques including computational fluid dynamics. Optimum flow and temperature distribution delivers uniform regeneration and avoids damage to the filter.
The company’s extensive experience in producing complete retrofit systems will be used to develop the technology into a complete system. This will use wall flow filter technology to virtually eliminate particulate matter in some of the most demanding applications.
“Our ART technology demonstrates our continuous commitment to innovation and responding to challenging requirements,” comments Kathye-Ann Henderson, Marketing Manager, Eminox. “Our flexible manufacturing facilities in Gainsborough enable us to offer solutions that are tailored for specialist applications. IAA presents us with a great platform to showcase our experience of emissions technologies combined with our extensive applications engineering expertise.”
