40 years of success at Eminox and plans for a zero-emissions world

Attended by staff, local MP Sir Edward Leigh, customers and industry experts, the event saw the company looking back on four decades of growth and announcing new plans to help bridge the gap between today’s environmental concerns and the proposed introduction of zero-emissions legislation in 2040. By using its diesel retrofit technology, operators of bus, coach and truck fleets can reduce harmful emissions now, improving air quality and helping prevent an estimated 50,000 annual premature deaths in the UK alone.

Founded in 1978, Eminox now employs over 300 staff at its Lincolnshire HQ and manufacturing sites. It has grown through continuous innovation and a focus on engineering excellence. It has seen its exhaust after-treatment systems fitted to heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment across the globe, and won bus and coach contracts in cities such as Paris, London, Barcelona and Hong Kong.

“Eminox’s success over the last 40 years demonstrates our ongoing innovation and strong partnerships and, above all, the dedication and skills of our workforce,” said Mark Runciman, managing director, Eminox. “Looking forward, governments around the world are committing themselves to a zero-emissions future. However, we need to act now on poor air quality, and that’s why we are seeing increasing global demand for our exhaust after-treatment systems as cities around the world improve their environments and protect their citizens’ health.”

Approved by the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS), Eminox is currently working with Transport for London (TfL) to prepare the transport authority’s fleet for the introduction of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in 2019. Of the five suppliers, Eminox has provided the latest emissions reduction technology to 64% of the 1,100 of TfL’s buses already retrofitted – a feat achieved in less than 12 months.

“Eminox may have strong Lincolnshire roots, but it has grown to be a global success story that is leading its market, positively impacting the lives of millions through its advanced technology,” said Sir Edward Leigh, MP for Gainsborough. “It has invested heavily in the area and its workforce, and I’m delighted to help celebrate its 40th anniversary and future plans.”

Attendees at the anniversary event heard from a range of speakers, including members of the Eminox management team and Will Milles, chairman of parent company Hexadex. They also toured the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities and took part in an industry debate on bridging the gap to the zero-emissions future.

DPFs trap carcinogenic particles to ensure vehicles meet emissions standards but can block if not serviced correctly, causing internal damage and adding to the time and cost off-road. Based on its 40 years’ experience in emissions control, Eminox’s Aftermarket DPFs are available for Volvo, Renault and DAF trucks, providing type-approved, high-quality replacements that are manufactured in Eminox’s state of the art UK factory.

Through its UAN Truck and G-TRUCK commercial vehicle networks, CV Logix delivers high-quality commercial vehicle parts and equipment via over 160 member distributors across the UK. This boosts the availability of Eminox products and makes it easy for UK operators to receive ‘like for like’ Eminox DPFs, cost-effectively getting their vehicles back on the road in under 24 hours.

Both G-TRUCK and UAN Truck networks are owned by Alliance Automotive Group (AAG), a European leader in supplying parts and related technical knowledge to the Independent Aftermarket.

Neil Koston, Aftermarket Manager for Eminox, said: “We work closely with our distributors to help provide them with solutions to get vehicles back on the road. This new partnership with CV Logix enables faster supply to end users, who benefit from same-day or next-day delivery of their required parts to keep their business moving. It is part of our multi-million pound commitment to the Aftermarket, and we look forward to moving forward with CV Logix as our partnership deepens.”

Products will be supplied from Eminox’s new Aftermarket distribution centre, which has received extensive investment to enable it to provide easier next day service from stock as well as offering same-day collection for UK distributors. Centrally located in Stoke-on-Trent, it offers easy access to the UK’s motorway network.

“We are continually looking to strengthen our range with high quality, innovative products that deliver value to our distributor partners and their customers,” said Krysty Sheard, CV Marketing, CV Logix. “As Clean Air Zones multiply, emissions compliance is now crucial for vehicle operators, and Eminox provides a cost-effective, certified alternative to expensive OEM DPFs. We’re extremely impressed with its heritage and experience, and how it is applying this to solve a key business problem across the Euro VI vehicle market.”

The DPFs are manufactured in a new dedicated production cell in Eminox’s advanced UK factory, which has achieved the IATF 16949:2016 standard. They have European Type Approval certification, comply with the ISO and TS quality standards and are Block Exemption Regulation (BER) compliant, meaning fitting them won’t invalidate manufacturer warranties. Unlike alternatives, Eminox DPFs are supplied with all necessary gaskets and clamps and include a 200,000 km/two-year warranty as standard.
