This enables operators to comply cost-effectively with regulations such as the London NRMM Low Emission Zone, which came into force on 1 March 2021, other planned Clean Air Zones (CAZ), and the forthcoming Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD). It also enables generators to achieve on-site emissions standards for HS2, Europe’s largest construction project.
Reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions is crucial to improving air quality and lowering the current £157 million annual cost to public health in the UK. Eminox is the first company to receive approval from the official NRMM Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (RAS) for a solution for constant speed engines, and has now launched retrofit exhaust aftertreatment systems covering 37 to 560 kW engine power output, accredited by the Energy Saving Trust. Fully integrated into generators, Eminox’s new EMx S5 range of solutions prolong the life of existing machinery, avoiding the requirement to replace them with newer models.
“As we move towards a zero emissions future, there’s an increasing focus on generators and their impact on air quality in cities across the UK,”
“Operators need to be able to achieve compliance with emissions regulations, such as the London NRMM, and our new range of accredited retrofit solutions enables them to deliver this cost-effectively and quickly, safeguarding their investment in existing plant.”
said James Thorpe, UK Sales Manager, Eminox.
Falcon Tower Crane Services has worked with Eminox to retrofit its generators in order to address emissions compliance. It provides a range of generator services and operates a fleet of over 60 diesel generators.
“We collaborated with Eminox and they delivered a low-cost solution to support our business requirements now and in the future,”
“Our adoption of this retrofit emissions reduction technology enables us to meet Stage V emissions standards, which is required on HS2 project sites, and also comply with MCPD standards in London.”
said Andy Teanby, Generator Manager, Falcon Tower Crane Services.
With over 42 years of experience in the exhaust aftertreatment systems market and a strong record in the generator sector, Eminox has the capacity to supply emissions systems for power generation of up to 2 MW. It works closely with both retrofit customers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and, was first to market with accredited emissions control solutions for on-road applications and NRMM such as piling rigs. Over the last ten years, retrofitting Eminox’s emissions reduction technology has prevented 25,000 tonnes of NOx entering the atmosphere every year, leading to a saving to society of £631m in public health costs.
