Description

We are looking for a Toolmaker to join our current team. You will have undertaken a recognised apprenticeship in tool making/machining. You will be required to work from tool drawings, sketches or verbal instruction in the manufacture of jigs, tools and equipment.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications:
• A good standard of education
• Recognised apprenticeship in Toolmaking/Machining
• Emphasis on Mathematics/Engineering/Technology

Previous Experience:
• Toolmaking role(s) in a manufacturing environment
• Able to achieve results quickly and accurately
• Creative and innovative with an ability to challenge ideas
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Able to work with minimal supervision from own initiative
• Enthusiastic, reliable, honest and conscientious
• Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Be prepared to learn new skills
• Good timekeeper

Key Responsibilities

• Working to company procedures to ensure a safe working environment
• Able to operate Toolroom equipment, including:

• Manual lathes and milling machines
• CNC lathes and milling machines
• Surface grinder
• Radial arm and pillar drills
• Wire EDM
• Other workshop equipment/machinery

• Gaining an appreciation of CAD
• Manufacturing parts for tools, jigs and fixtures to fine tolerances from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions
• Assisting in solving development problems
• Assembling and testing new tooling
• Carry out planned maintenance on jigs and tooling
• Provide breakdown cover for production tooling
• Writing operational instructions for new tooling
• Recording results of new tooling and proposing improvements as required
• Repairing, remaking and enhancing existing tooling
• Maintaining housekeeping standards within the Manufacturing Engineering Workshop
