Description

In a broad sense, the Engineering Department in Eminox covers design, development, validation, technical project planning and implementation of product for manufacture, right from new product introduction to current product support. Introduction of technology into products and implementation of tools and processes to design and develop a robust product remain key for the department.

The Test Technician will be responsible for carrying out the workload within the test facility. Sharing knowledge and training/developing and mentoring new Test Technicians you will ensure that test work is delivered in a safe, timely and repeatable manner while capturing good quality data. In addition, the Test Technician will be responsible for the regular cleaning/servicing and maintenance of the test facility and equipment. The test facility is a service provider to the Engineering Department, supporting new product developments.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering subject OR comparable practical experience (essential)
• HNC or equivalent Level 4 in an Engineering subject (desirable)

Knowledge and Experience
• Previous mechanical fitting or workshop experience (desirable)

Key Skills (all essential)
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office
• Interpretation of Engineering drawings
• Basic metrology
• Ability to introduce new methods and ideas ensuring a continuous improvement ethos
• Demonstrates attention to detail through all stages of processes
• Can work and communicate effectively with others
• Understands and delivers customer requirements

• Calibration and why it is important
• Test rig configuration, operation (including data capture), and maintenance
• Emissions analyser operation

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out all testing activities, including test setup, instrumentation, test rig operation and data capture
• Design and manufacture (where practicable) test fixtures to enable testing
• Occasional manufacture of components/assemblies may be required
• Inspection and teardown of components/assemblies mid-test and post-test
• Record keeping
• Maintain equipment KPI’s
• Maintain departmental stock, and inform Senior Test Engineer of shortages in a timely manner
• Place orders to support testing activities
• Carry out all departmental maintenance activities within the scope of the role
• Offer an element of cover for absence and illness for other Test Technicians
• Maintain a safe and tidy workplace
• Any other duties assigned in line with scope of role
