We are looking for a Product Development Manager to join our current team. The Product Development Manager is accountable for the technical execution of all engineering development, technology and platform projects to deliver products for the OEM, Retrofit and Aftermarket value streams within the business. Leading a team of project engineers and development engineers, they will be responsible for ensuring projects follow a gated governance process, delivering robust products to internal and external customers. The successful candidate will be comfortable coordinating multiple projects, working within a multidisciplinary team to challenging timescales, to deliver genuine improvements to the business.

Person Specification

• Degree in Engineering or related Science (essential)
• Master’s degree (desirable)
• Chartered Engineer (desirable)

Knowledge and Experience:
• Experienced in developing new technologies and products for the automotive industry
• Knowledge of engine and exhaust aftertreatment systems
• Experience used a gated development governance process
• Experience working with technology readiness levels
• Experience working in the manufacturing industry
• Experience of performing process improvement work
• Experience developing DFMEAs to drive V&V activities
• Experience working with APQP / PPAP
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 & ISO 9001
• Understanding of legislation and regulations that drive engine and aftertreatment development
• Knowledge of engine and exhaust control systems (desirable)
• Experience in weld fabrication of stainless steel (desirable)
• Knowledge of electric and hybrid powertrains (desirable)
• Knowledge of alternative fuels for combustion engines (desirable)

Key Skills:
• Able to manage a team of engineers to deliver technical project plans on time and within budget
• Competent in the execution of DFMEAs and creation of V&V plans
• Ability to create technical documentation and display good presentation skills
• Ability to read, analyse & interpret engineering drawings
• Demonstrated application of engineering and scientific principles
• A good balance of theoretical understanding and practical knowledge with the drive to see the project through to completion

Key Responsibilities

• Overall delivery of development, technology & platform engineering projects to the agreed cost, quality and timing
• Provide leadership to the product development engineers, project engineers and associated engineering project teams
• Responsible for ensuring adherence to gated governance process
• Continuous improvement of engineering development processes
• Drive collaboration both inside and outside of the Hexadex group
• Generate and control product development budget
• Engage with current suppliers and identify new suppliers in support of development projects
• Attend conferences, represent Eminox with trade associations and support working groups to scope potential new development projects
• Support engineering method development work
• Deliver feedback to drive continuous improvement
• Any other duties assigned in line with scope of role
